The Lincoln Tunnel is considered to be one of the most high-risk sites in America.

The Lincoln Tunnel carries 42 million vehicles annually.

The Lincoln Tunnel is a 1.5-mile-long tunnel under the Hudson River, connecting Weehawken, New Jersey and Midtown Manhattan. It opened to traffic on December 22, 1937, and in 1970 was the first to have a dedicated bus lane. A lighting retrofit to be completed this month will save the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey more than $283,000 in annual energy savings.
