The Rocket Thrower at Flushing Meadows Corona Park.

One of the largest sculpture commissions in America in the 20th century, the 43-foot high Rocket Thrower was the brainchild of sculptor Donald De Lue. Designed for the 1964 World’s Fair, “the bronze figure hurls a rocket heavenward with his right hand, and reaches for a constellation of gilded stars with his left.”
