Yankee Stadium in a quieter time.

Pope Benedict XVI mass at Yankee Stadium drew 60000 faithful.

Pope Benedict XVI addressed the United Nations, met with Jewish leaders at the Park East Synagogue and led an Ecumenical Prayer Service at St. Joseph Parish in Yorkville. That was day one of his 60-hour visit to NYC on April 18-20, 2008. On Saturday he led a Mass for Clergy at St. Patrick’s Cathedral before attending a youth rally at St. Joseph Seminary. The Pontiff concluded his stay in New York with a visit to Ground Zero and a mass at Yankee Stadium before departing from JFK International Airport aboard Shepherd One.
