Ceramic tiles serve as tribute to victims of 9/11.

9/11 remembrance project disappears from West Village.

What began as angels and ribbons attached to a parking lot fence across the street from St Vincent’s Hospital in the hours after 9/11 and became Tiles for America has disappeared. The tiles were removed in advance of an MTA project to build a ventilation plant on the site. The MTA has promised to incorporate the tiles in the plant’s facade.
