Riverside Church serves the communities of Harlem and Morningside Heights.

The tallest church in the United States rises to 392 feet.

Modeled after the 13th century Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Chartres in France, construction of Riverside Church began in 1927 and held its first service in 1930. Conceived by John D. Rockefeller and pastor Harry Emerson Fosdick as a large, interdenominational church, Riverside’s congregation includes more than forty ethnic groups and has a long history of social justice and activism.
