Citi Field and Home Run AppleThe original Shea Stadium Home Run Apple sits outside Citi Field.

With pitchers and catchers reporting for spring training there is no better time to visit the New York Mets Home Run Apple. The Apple made its first appearance at Shea Stadium in 1980 and when the Mets moved into the new Citi Field in 2009 a new Home Run Apple was called for. At 16 feet in height, 18 feet in diameter and 8300 pounds the new Home Run Apple is significantly bigger than the original New York Mets Home Run Apple.
