Gateway to the American DreamEllis Island Immigration Museum

More than 12 million immigrants passed through the doors at Ellis Island between  1892 and 1954. After they stopped processing immigrants there, it fell into a state of disrepair. It was renovated in the mid-1980s and reopened in 1990 as the Ellis Island Immigration Museum. The 100,000 square-foot museum fills three floors of the main building with exhibits, photos, videos and interactive displays.
