Joseph, Jesus and Mary remind us what Christmas is all about at Central Park.Nativity scene at Central Park.

Christ comes to Central Park on Christmas Day in this nativity scene at Fifth Avenue and 59th Street. St Francis of Assisi is credited with constructing the first nativity scene in 1223. There are many nativity scenes throughout New York City during the holidays, from the one at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, to local churches and lawns. Most scenes show an empty crib until Christmas Eve or Day when the baby Jesus is first displayed to passers-by and parishioners.
