The twin towers of the San Remo Apartments.Located at 145 and 146 Central Park West are the San Remo Apartments.

Designed by architect, Emery Roth, the San Remo took advantage of new zoning regulations in the 1920s to become the first of New York’s twin towered apartment blocks. Construction of the San Remo began in 1929 — weeks before the market crash — and took approximately two years to complete. In 1940, both buildings were sold for $25,000 over the existing mortgages. Today, individual units can command prices upwards of $20 million.
