Named after Henry Hudson, the Hudson River winds 315 miles from its headwaters in the Adirondack Mountains before emptying into Upper New York Bay. An economic lifeblood and artery for westward expansion the Hudson River was also inspiration to Washington Irving and the Hudson River School of artists.
