Originally conceived as a gimmick in 1936 to lure shoppers to the Sunken Plaza, the Ice Skating Rink at Rockefeller Center has been a holiday tradition ever since. Open ’til midnights on weekends, the rink is an intimate experience shared by New Yorkers of all ages. With room for only 150 skaters at a time be prepared for long waits during peak periods.
