Looking north on MacDougal Street.MacDougal Street: The Main Street of Bohemia.

If New York City is the center of the Universe and Broadway is the Main Street of America then surely MacDougal Street is the Main Street of Bohemia. An inspiration and home to writers, dramatists, poets, novelists, artists, singers, musicians, dreamers and vagabonds, MacDougal Street is the heartbeat of Greenwich Village. The title of today’s New York City moment is taken from the poem by Jack Kerouac who died this day in 1969.
