Concorde jet on display alongside Intrepid.Banned in New York: The SST first landed after a local ban was lifted.

On this day in 1977 supersonic jet travel arrived in New York City with the first landing at JFK of the Concorde SST. For all the notoriety attached to the Concorde — including a local New York ban — there were only 20 of the aircraft ever built. One of those 20 Concorde is on permanent display beside the USS Intrepid along the Hudson River.
