Twin shafts of light commemorate those who perished on 9/11.Tribute in Light for victims of 9/11 as seen from Washington Square.

What began as a temporary art installation in the spring of 2002, the Tribute in Light has become an annual moment of solemnity. Located near Ground Zero, the Tribute in Light illuminates the downtown Manhattan skyline and is a reminder of the 2753 souls who perished on September 11, 2001. On a clear night the twin shafts of light can be seen from 60 miles away.
