Brooklyn Bridge Facing Manhattan. The Brooklyn Bridge is currently undergoing a $700+ million facelift.

The Brooklyn Bridge was the world’s longest suspension bridge when completed in 1883. Spanning the East River it served as the first land link between Manhattan and Brooklyn. Famously sold to gullible rubes the Bridge is also the inspiration of Hart Crane’s epic poem “The Bridge.” Years later, Crane learned that he and the builder of the Bridge, Washington Roebling, shared the same Brooklyn address.
